Fantasy Basketball: Should You Add Marco Belinelli?

New Orleans Hornets guard Marco Belinelli has averaged 34.0 minutes in his past six games, and he has made the most of his increased playing time. During the stretch he has averaged 15.8 points, 1.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.2 steals, and 2.2 three-pointers per game.
Marco also shot 45.1 percent from the floor, 48.1 percent from downtown, and 81.8 percent from the line. He isn’t an answer to all of your needs, but as long as he is playing heavy minutes, he should be help your points and three-pointer categories.

His season numbers (10.5 ppg, 2.5 rpb, 1.2 apg, 0.9 spg, 1.5 3pg) aren’t great, but he has been considerably more productive, not only during this stretch, but in February in general. He’s averaging 13.3 ppg and 1.9 3pg for the month, and has been in double-digit scoring in eight of his nine games.

Can the scoring stay at 15.0+ ppg? Not likely. In the 18 games that he played thirty or more minutes he has averaged 12.7 ppg. Still, if you are looking for three-pointers he’s a solid option, and he’s likely available in your fantasy basketball league.

Belinelli is owned in 16.0 percent of Yahoo! and 6.9 percent of ESPN leagues. If he continues to produce double-digit scoring, multiple three-point games those numbers are going to climb. If you have an expendable player on your bench, Belinelli is worth a look.
